One thing that you’ve got to love about Ascension Parish is how often the community comes together in times of need. Accidents happen, hurricanes hit, flooding occurs and all you see are friends, neighbors and complete strangers standing side-by-side ready to assist each other.

The St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department responded to Highway 22 and Stringer Bridge Road on Thursday February 19, around 5:30 PM for a two vehicle accident.

There were no serious injuries and the accident is being investigated by the Louisiana State Police and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“Highway 22 and Bayou Terrace Boulevard in the St. Amant community was the site of two different 18-wheeler accidents inside of a week”, stated St. Amant Fire Chief Officer James E. LeBlanc.

Both accidents occurred on different days and each caused serious delays on one of the major arteries connecting Ascension and Livingston Parishes. The second accident, which occurred on Friday, February 6th, resulted in both drivers being transported to local facilities for observation. … Continue Reading
