Sunday, August 3rd, 2014 – At 04:57 am the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department Fire Response Boat responded to a working structure fire in the Three Rivers Island Community of Livingston Parish. Three Rivers Island is a golf cart community built on the Ascension and Livingston Parish lines. Even though the golf cart bridge falls in the Ascension Parish area, the entire Three Rivers Island Community falls in Livingston Parish.

The St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department assisted the Livingston Fire District 8 and 9 Departments with the structure fire. A water supply was established from the Diversion Canal with the St. Amant Fire Response Boat. The deck gun on the Emergency Response boat was used to protect homes near the structure fire. Two golf carts were completely damaged and 40% of the burning home on the Three Rivers Island Community was destroyed.

This community can only be accessed with golf carts, which has brought major concern ever since it’s development stated Chief Officer James E. LeBlanc. You have to go through Ascension Parish to even access this community which again all falls in Livingston. The only way to get to all these homes is either by water or golf cart.

The St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department Fire Response Boat was recently purchased through private and industrial funds to help protect homes near the Diversion Canal areas and waterways.
