Many people this Memorial Day weekend paused to remember the men and woman in uniform who gave so much for our freedom.

In the St. Amant community, Volunteer Firefighters spent that day going through the community handing out ice-cream and flags to as many children as possible, stated Chief Officer James E. LeBlanc.

So many gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country, so we can be able to enjoy the freedom we have stated LeBlanc. May 11th, 2013 – Eleven volunteer firefighters from the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department spent eight hours training on new vehicle extrication procedures. The course provided hands-on experience in the procedures and systems utilized during an automobile extrication.

Subjects covered include auto extrication, types of hand and power tools, removing windows, opening doors, removing roofs, pulling steering wheels, moving foot pedals, raising dashboards, pulling seats, stabilization of vehicles and simulated rescues of trapped victims.… Continue Reading
